Get a smart thermostat. The auto-learning feature alone will pay for the device, and you won't have to feel guilty about not programming it correctly.

Still using a basic manual or old mercury thermostat

Upgrade immediately. Either a programmable or smart model will save you money. If you can afford the extra $100–$150 for a smart model, it's worth it — especially in high-rate areas.

Business owner with extended operating hours
